Backyard Wonders 2
"Backyard Wonders 2" continues to explore our own backyard and looks at butterflies, earthworms, ants, sparrows, snails, and squirrels. Courtney Watkins works her magic again with the illustrations, as well. A butterfly's colorful wings are covered with dust-like particles. If you touch the wings, the particles come off on your hands. If that happens, the butterfly can't fly. Little hands can gently pick up an earthworm or a snail. Ants always look for food and leave a trail, a bit like breadcrumbs, to lead their friends to the food. Sparrows are used to flying in spurts. They seem to flit and bounce rather than soar. A squirrel scurries, leaps, and races up the trees. Every move is quick. You'll learn more bits of information about these creatures.
